Oscar Fashion

So the Oscars were last night and the looks were AMAZING! Here's my picks for Best Dressed, Worst Dressed, and top trends!  Enjoy!

Best Dressed

Naomi Watts- Naomi rocked this silver Armani Prive dress.  Her look was glamorous and edgy, and fit her like a glove.  The asymmetrical neckline highlighted her gorgeous face and the texture of the dress was nothing like anything else that we saw on the red carpet.

Reese Witherspoon- Reese emulated Hollywood glamour in this fitted royal blue Louis Vuitton number.  Embracing her inner Jessica Rabbit, this dress flattered Reese in all the right placed and really stood out on the red carpet.  Her signature 'do finished off the look to a tee.

Jessica Chastain- Jessica dazzled in this nude colored Armani Prive dress.  The fitted silhouette and subtle sparkle was just enough for her small frame.  She looked fresh and bright compared to the other dark dresses on the red carpet.

Worst Dressed

Maria Menounos- Maria, what were you thinking?!  This bubblegum pink Romona Keveza gown is absolutely gorgeous on her but the styling is anything but Oscar worthy.  The big hair pulled back with the headband and pave diamond necklace reminds me too much of a pageant than a Hollywood awards ceremony.  Styling is key!

Trends of the night

Neutral Pastels- There were many dresses on the red carpet that fit into the category of pastels.  Whether they be nude, cream, blush or shimmering peaches, these shades were a big trend at the Oscars.

Sheath Dress- Sheath dresses were definitely favored by starlets at the Oscars.  The fitted bodice highlights a small waist and the fitting continues as the fabric skims over the hips and things, creating a beautiful shape.  No wonder sheath were so popular!

Sweetheart necklines- It has been a few awards shows since we have seen such popularity with the sweetheart neckline, and I am glad its back.  The neckline is flattering on almost every body type and completely old Hollywood glamour.

Winter White Wonderland: Holdiay Decorations for the Home

Christmas is right around the corner which means holiday festivities galore!  If your wishing for a white Christmas (like most of us are) but aren't confident that Santa can grant you such a wish, then I have a solution for you.  With a few winter white decorations, you can easily transform any living space into a personal winter wonderland with a few easy decorations.

If you love the look of trees dusted with fresh snow, then  white Christmas tree may be the right fit for you.  White Christmas trees have been gaining much popularity over the past few years, and they are quickly becoming a Christmas staple for people who enjoy a modern take on the winter season.  White Christmas trees give you many options; you can dress the tree in all white decorations and lights, like the tree to the left for a sophisticated Christmas look or add a splash of color to your blank canvas of tree with single-color accents like the tree at the bottom left has done with the teal decorations.  Another option is to decorate your white tree with multi-colored ornaments and tinsel, for a fun take on a tree, like the one below.

Another way to add a touch of winter white to your holiday home decor is by using inexpensive white Christmas balls.  Pick out a collection (about 12) white Christmas ornaments that  you particularly enjoy (it's best if they don't all match!) and arrange them in a clear tall, wide vase for a beautiful centerpiece or decoration that you can place throughout your home.  This simple decoration looks great on fireplace mantles, book shelves, as a centerpiece on the dining room table, and anywhere else in your house that you can think of using it.  To add more interest to the piece, feathers, pearl strands, tinsel, and smaller Christmas ornaments would all make for great details to add to the piece, as seen in the picture above.  Accenting the piece with colored feathers, ornaments, or tinsel would also be a fun way to jazz up the look.

If you're into more organic decorations, then a winter white floral arrangement is the perfect option for you.  Depending on the amount of money that you want to spend, will determine the types of flowers used.  Simply buy any white flowers that you choose and arrange them nicely in a white or silver vase.  For more of a wintry feel, add filler snow branches (twigs sprayed with fake snow) and small Christmas ornaments.  If you do not want to arrange the flowers yourself, these arrangements can easily be ordered at your local florist.be

I hope that these decorations provide you with new and innovative ways to turn your home into a winter wonderland!  Happy holidays!! :)

What is Winter White?

Welcome to my blog! J
A big trend this winter season is the increasing presence of winter white in pants, tops, blouses, sweaters, dresses, skirts, and accessories.  The taboo fashion rule of not wearing white after Labor Day is rapidly changing to include white in the winter months, in shades ranging from pure snow white to classic ivory.  Winter white is a trending color this season because of its relationship to snow and the beauty of a winter snow scene.  White is pure and crisp and clean, and many women, and men, are participating in the trend because they are able to easily recycle their summer clothes that are white and rework them into winter looks.  This trend is inexpensive and smart due to the current state of the economy.
The main demographic that is participating in the winter white trend is both women in men ranging from childhood to young adulthood.  This group is wearing this trend because the status quo of not being able to wear white after Labor Day has changed during their generation.  Middle aged and elder adults will eventually assimilate to the trend, but they are used to not wearing white after Labor Day so they are hesitant of the trend at the moment.  Examples and articles about winter white can be found in fashion magazines such as Vogue, Instyle, Marie Claire, Elle, and Seventeen Magazine.  Many trendy teen stores such as Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe are carrying winter white clothing and accessories, and popular department stores such as Macy’s and Kohl’s are beginning to catch on the trend and fill their stores with winter white.  Below I have linked some examples of winter white clothing and accessories to the stores that carry them along with prices.  Enjoy!
